Installation Services

A piece of weighing equipment uses sensitive electronics that can be disrupted simply by the environment it is installed in.
Here at Industrial weighing scales, we want to help you achieve the best performance from your weighing equipment. Our onsite installation service will allow the experienced engineer to assess working environments.

Things to consider when installing a scale

A weighing scales accuracy can be severely affected by its environment that it is installed in. Multiple factors should be considered if you want to achieve the best performance from your weighing equipment, these include:

  • Location- Placing a scale in a location that has high volume of traffic could run the risk of the scale being hit with forklift trucks or other pieces of equipment. Sometimes due to production needs the weighing scale must be installed in a specific place, our engineers will make recommendations to help prolong the equipment and ensure efficiency.

  • Stable, solid and level surface - The ground or table the scale is installed on needs to be well built to ensure the direction of load is central and there is no weight displacement. Most weighing scales have a built-in level indication to help balance the scale prior to use however an external level indication device can be used to ensure the weight measured is distributed evenly over the weigh plate.

  • Air flow - A weighing scale is a sensitive measurement device that can be affected by air flow directed at the scale. Measures should be made to ensure the scale is not installed in the path of a fan or air conditioning.

  • Electromagnetic interference - Scales installed next to heavy machinery can be susceptible to interference from high voltage cabling, motors or devices. Avoiding high voltage cabling on long cable runs, using shielded cables andsufficient earth bonding are measures that can be used to help dissipate interference.

  • Fouling - Mechanical fouling from stored goods or debris can give false weigh readings. Scales should have sufficient clearance and regular maintenance should be carried out to ensure nothing has found its way under the scale.

Why choose Industrial Weighing Scales to install your equipment.

Our engineers have over a decade of experience and have installed all types of weighing equipment. We carry out installation to the 18th edition electrical installation wiring regulations, this gives you a piece of mind knowing the equipment is safe and protected.

Installations include:

  • Cable management including cable trunking, tray and conduit.

  • Standardised cable colours used for industry.

  • Cable tagging and labelling for easy identification.

  • Correct fixings used to adhere to latest regulations.

  • Wiring schematic provided.

  • Feet locators and bump stops can also be installed for platform scales.

Conclusion

It is fair to say that installing a weighing scale is not as simple as getting it out of the box when it comes to optimising its performance.  We are happy to assist with any installation from a basic installation to a weighbridge or ATEX system, we are here to help!
